At Mountain City Music we believe that music has the power to bring people together, spark creativity, and transform lives. Our journey began in Victorville, California, a community that, while rich in potential, lacked accessible music education options. We saw an opportunity to bridge that gap and bring the joy of music to people who might not otherwise have access to it.

 

Founded by Jonny Dolan, a passionate musician and educator, his mission was simple: to bring music to life in an area where it had been largely absent from daily experiences. Victorville, like many small towns, didn’t have the same abundance of music programs and lessons as larger cities, so Jonny decided to change that. His vision was to offer high-quality music instruction directly to his community through a mobile in-home service, meeting students where they are and making music education more accessible and flexible than ever before.

He started with a small team and a big dream, bringing the magic of music to families throughout the region. With mobile in-home lessons, students of all ages could learn instruments, vocal technique, music theory, and more without the need to travel far or make long-term commitments. Over the years, Mountain City Music’s impact has grown, as we’ve worked with students from all walks of life, helping them discover their musical potential and providing them with the tools they need to grow and succeed.

As the business grew, Jonny wanted to do more than just teach music, he aimed to build a sustainable ecosystem for local talent. To achieve this, he began offering job opportunities to former students, allowing them to return as instructors and pass on their knowledge and skills to the next generation of learners. By providing these opportunities, he not only expanded his team but also helped foster a thriving community of musicians and educators who were once students themselves. This approach has allowed Mountain City Music to create a cycle of growth, mentorship, and opportunity for everyone involved.

Today, we’re proud to continue serving Victorville and surrounding areas, bringing the sounds of music into homes, hearts, and minds.
