Frequently Asked Questions

Can Multiple People in my Household Take Lessons?

Yes! Multiple lessons are encouraged! Teaching multiple lessons per visit ensures that each family member receives quality and convenient lessons.

Our instructors will gladly teach multiple back-to-back lessons upon request. We are happy to mix and match instruments (i.e., one lesson is for guitar, the other is for piano) per visit.

How Often Should Lessons Be Given?

Weekly lessons are the ideal format for learning music. The weekly format provides consistency behind one’s learning, making sure that steady progress is made. The weekly lesson format also provides enough time between lessons so that the student may adequately prepare for the next session. The weekly lesson format strikes the ideal balance of consistency, continuity, and rest.

How Often Should I/My Child Practice?

Progress in music is linear: the more one practices, the better one becomes. Therefore, our instructors encourage students to practice daily for at least fifteen minutes. That way, students can optimize consistency in their practice while making steady progress in note reading, accuracy, dexterity, etc.

Yet, we understand that life can get in the way of a practice schedule. If daily practice is not attainable, we encourage a modification to the schedule that grants the same duration of practice. For example, thirty minutes every other day, forty-five minutes every third day, etc.

Practice length should also be modified according to length, attention span, and enjoyment. We would not expect a four-year-old student and a thirty-plus-year-old student to practice for the same duration. Feel free to modify the practice schedule based on the student’s age, attention span, and enjoyment.

Concerned about what to practice? Our instructors will provide attainable next steps after each lesson to guarantee the student is sufficiently challenged to enhance learning.

Lastly, do not stress about your practice or progress. Remember, music is here to enrich one’s life, not to add stress. So do not worry if you miss a practice session every once in a while - our instructors will welcome any student regardless of skill level or perceived progress.

Do Your Instructors Receive Background Checks?

Absolutely!

All of our instructors undergo extensive background checks to guarantee the safety and well-being of you and your family. In addition, each instructor receives a Livescan (fingerprint scan), stored in law enforcement databases and cross-referenced with previous history. We only hire instructors with a clean background check and criminal record to ensure, once again, the utmost safety of you and your family.
